The Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund was established in 1961 to provide relief of personal hardship and distress arising from natural disasters occurring within Western Australia. The perpetual fund is a registered charitable body and has approval of the Australian Taxation Office for tax deductibility of contributions.
Over the years the fund has assisted with relief appeals for many natural disasters, including the Dwellingup Fires in 2007, the Toodyay Fire Appeal in 2010, and in 2011 two appeals for the Gascoyne and Mid-West Floods and the Perth Hills Fire.
The current appeal is for the Margaret River Fire 2011.
Please Note: The LMDRF Margaret River Fire Appeal will close for the receipt of donations and applications on 29 February 2012.
